What did you do this past week?

This past week was pretty light for this class because we just got introduced to the project. The class material has been a little confusing for me but I plan to rewatch the lectures to clarify things. The exercise was pretty tough for my group but I think it is because we ran into a lot of compile issues which took a long time to work through. The concepts were clear but I will likely try to redo that exercise.

What’s in your way?

I am a little confused about the project but I’m hoping going to office hours will clarify my questions. I read the notes going over the project but class cutting out during our discussion of the project made it hard to compile the information I need to understand this project. I suspect just spending more time reading Ed Discussion and the spec page will help.

What will you do next week?

This next week I will finish the project and submit, hopefully before the weekend. Otherwise I’m not sure there will be much to do for this class besides working quizzes and attending lectures.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #11: Getters and Setters?

The getters and setters paper was pretty clear. I also think I read this paper in cs373 but I can’t quite recall. I think it is helpful to get the reminder about design concepts even if I’ve read the paper before and it is nice to read the papers and then implement the concepts in the projects. I definitely feel like the papers are way more applicable to projects in this class as compared to SWE.

What was your experience of vector?

Vector was relatively clear but the exercise was pretty confusing and my group had a lot of trouble. Otherwise I had no questions and the quizzes were all manageable. Vectors will be pretty handy for the project so I’m sure the lectures will come in handy for that.

What made you happy this week?

This week I had a friendsgiving potluck with some friends from UTCS Ambassadors and got to hang out with people for the first time since the pandemic. Everyone brought dishes and it was a good way to feel connected to that community again.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip of the week is to remember to set your clock for daylight savings tomorrow! I’m not a fan of the time change because it gets darker earlier but we will all get an extra hour of sleep!
