What did you do this past week?

This past week I worked on Darwin and spent a lot of time working on other classes. It seems like all of my deadlines fell on this week and it was really difficult to find the time to do everything I was tasked with. I also attended lecture like usual and read the paper.

What’s in your way?

Right now not much is in my way. The past few exercises have been pretty difficult for me and the groups I’ve been in so I’m not sure that I understood all the lecture content. Once the Darwin project is done I’ll probably try to review lecture material.

What will you do next week?

Next week should be pretty relaxing because most of my classes are cancelled for the break. I’m hoping to get a head start on some of my projects due the week after break. It is unfortunate that I’ll have to work over the break but it will definitely help reduce some of the stress coming back.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #12: More Getters and Setters?

More getters and setters was pretty straightforward. I think getters and setters still have a place in programs but the points made in the paper do make sense.

What was your experience of initializations, copy constructor, copy assignment, move constructor, and move assignment?

This week’s lectures were pretty confusing for me so I’ll probably try to go to office hours later this week, especially because we won’t be working on a project so I’ll have time to focus on other things. Initializations made a lot of sense but working on the exercises with my groups made me realize I need to review some material.

What made you happy this week?

This week I realized there is not a lot of time before Thanksgiving break and also the end of the semester. I am excited to be finished with this semester. I found it incredibly draining because I was balancing a busy academic schedule as well as recruiting and getting adjusted to being back on campus and worrying about my health as well as my family’s health.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip of the week is to find an activity that isn’t on your phone when you need a break from studying. I’ve found that I tend to feel way more refreshed when I take a break and choose to do something that doesn’t involve my phone. I really enjoy going on walks or going on runs.
